WeForShe: Cultivating Women's Growth At GAVL

Enabling connection, learning, and professional development

WeForShe facilitates women employees’ connection, learning, and growth with each other. Since its inception on March 8, 2021, this ERG has experienced remarkable growth: in 2023-24, 381 women at GAVL participated, marking a 30% increase since its launch.

Over 32 WeForShe sessions held across 70+ locations, our women colleagues fostered belongingness and empowerment. Our activities have included connect sessions to share experiences and challenges; professional development sessions to nurture future leaders; and tea parties for informal gatherings and learning opportunities.

This year, WeforShe held sessions aimed at nurturing the professional and personal growth of its women employees. These encompassed a diverse range of topics, tailored to address women’s multi-faceted challenges and aspirations.

The journey began with a Workshop on Assertive Communication in April 2023, which provided participants with skills to effectively express their thoughts and ideas with confidence and clarity. This foundational skill is vital for women navigating the complexities of the corporate landscape.

In May 2023, they hosted a session on stress management and mindfulness, to underscore the importance of mental well-being in achieving sustainable success. Led by experts, this session equipped women professionals with practical strategies to manage stress and cultivate mindfulness amidst their busy schedules.

When Parul Manhas, Senior Officer in Quality Control for the Crop Protection Business at GAVL, reflected on her journey from an M.Sc. honors student to her current role, she said that joining GAVL marked a significant turning point. She finds inspiration in being the only female officer in her position, which drives her to push boundaries. She firmly believes in the limitless potential of hard work.

September 2023 saw the organization's dedication to women's empowerment through a session on "Mastering Your Money - Financial Acumen." Led by seasoned finance professionals, this session imparted crucial knowledge and skills to help women make informed financial decisions and achieve financial independence.

In October 2023, they facilitated a further session on stress management, with a focus on balancing life and work, acknowledging how persistent this particular challenge is for women professionals. This session provided practical tools and resources to navigate this balance effectively, while drawing support from the GAVL work environment.

In November 2023, WeForShe facilitated a practical session on how to leverage presentations for business impact, empowered women with the ability to articulate their ideas and aspirations compellingly. With this, the ERG aimed to equip women with a powerful tool to excel in their careers.

Additionally, between June and August 2023, WeForShe ran a comprehensive Women's Survey and Analysis, where they gathered and analysed the voices and experiences of women within the organisation. This initiative not only provided valuable insights but also reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the unique needs and concerns of their female workforce. The seeds of success have been sown.
