We know they say, "don't judge a book by its cover," but for Suvidha the cover is exactly where she finds artistic fulfillment. Born and brought up in Alibaug near Mumbai, Suvidha looks after new product development packaging for the RCCL portfolio in the Research and Development team at Godrej.

Products in her portfolio include perfumes like Park Avenue, and a condom brand, Kamasutra. When it comes to her work, Suvidha’s belief is simple – the packaging is what makes the product interesting. “Whenever you buy any product, you look at the packaging first, and accordingly you choose the product,” she explains. After a decade-long career of working with packaging, Suvidha says it’s her passion, and she loves doing it.

A day in her life is a day filled with balance. Imagine Suvidha holding her child’s hand - crayons and all - in one hand, and chemistry lab equipment in the other. “I leave at six in the evening sharp after work and spend time with my daughter. We play together, draw, and sing,” she says, smiling. Godrej has enabled her to balance her work with her family, she says: it’s a welcome contrast to earlier phases of her career in which she would spend an average of four hours travelling to and from work.

A good day at work means finding new packaging elements. She says, “When I go to the lab, do some experimenting, and find new things? Then I feel that I am an R&D person!

What does it mean to be a woman in STEM? For Suvidha, the answer lies in managing her roles as a mother, an artist, and a working woman. And some crayons.
