“So it was nice, like a warm welcome for me in Godrej. Before, I have worked in 2 companies, and I didn’t get this kind of training. It’s a two-month-long training period. So, I was surprised.”
When Dileep Upadhyay was a young boy, he studied under a banyan tree. “Till class 8, I didn’t have books to read. I come from a small village.” Despite limited resources, he was determined to get an education. But soon, he faced a setback that he hadn’t anticipated.
At the age of eleven, Dileep felt a sudden pain in his right leg. It was polio. “I got a disability in my right leg. For the next two years, I was on bed rest. After that, I started my studies.” With the support of a beloved elder brother, Dileep eventually studied his way up to get a degree in Master's in Computer Applications. “My father is a farmer, so he was not able to afford my education. That’s when my brother took responsibility.”
Today, Dileep works at Godrej Consumer Products in the operations department. He says of his two-month long training period at Godrej: “It was a nice and warm welcome. I have worked in two companies before this, and I didn’t get this kind of training. So, I was surprised.”
