In June 2024, we hosted a significant event, 'Pride Capital,' in celebration of Pride Month. We invited over 50 shortlisted candidates to our head office for an inclusive career fair, organised in partnership with the TWEET Foundation, a non-profit supporting transgender individuals.
As a trans person, I found the event truly affirming. It was inspiring to see our company investing considerable resources to reach talent from the LGBTQIA+ community. This wasn’t just another event for me; it provided a unique opportunity to engage with organisations working for LGBTQIA+ rights and to connect with over 100 community members. These weren’t regular interview rounds, but genuine conversations where people shared their journeys and expectations from companies like ours.
Manish Shah, our MD & CEO, opened the event with a powerful conversation about our commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. Hearing him talk about how inclusion benefits both society and business was incredibly affirming. The highlight was a panel discussion featuring leaders from Godrej Industries Group and Godrej Capital: Bhavya Misra, Pankaj Gupta, Vishal Chandwani, Parmesh Shahani, and Maya from the TWEET Foundation. It was particularly insightful to listen to Maya, who shared the ongoing challenges faced by transgender individuals and provided valuable insights on how companies can be more inclusive.
My colleagues Rolie Breja and Christina Evers shared their journeys with Godrej, highlighting our inclusive culture and support systems. Listening to them was affirming. In my personal journey, finding a workplace where I could truly be myself seemed like an impossible dream, especially in India. But then I found Godrej Capital. Here, I am embraced for who I am, working alongside inclusive leaders who are committed to building a company that is welcoming to all, not just some.
