Nirmal Khujwa (He/Him)

Skilled Operator

“My father is a farmer. He is uneducated and he made sure we studied, so that we would do something different from him. He wanted us to be successful.”

A new team member at Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL), Nirmal is raring to go. It’s been a long journey for him from Morena in northern Madhya Pradesh to the GCPL Vindhya plant in Malanpur

“I have a disability in my left leg. I am generally fit, but I can’t run very far.” Bolstered by a supportive family who never let him feel the sting of discrimination, Nirmal grew up focusing on his capabilities. “My father is a farmer. He is uneducated and he made sure we studied, so that we would do something different from him. He wanted us to be successful.”

As a child, the only time Nirmal felt a keen difference between himself, and his friends was on the playing field. He says, “They used to be able to run very fast and I couldn’t. But I always told myself that I can do this too; that I can be better.” Now, Nirmal admits he can walk up to four to five kilometers and is fond of playing cricket when he can.

This desire to be better is what has driven him to be a Godrej employee, and he hopes that he is able to contribute to the organization. He grins and adds, “I want to follow all the rules and instructions with full honesty, and I hope the organization also provides for me and helps me grow.”
