“For many women, the first trimester of pregnancy can be especially critical,” Mugdha, a credit manager in the risk function at Godrej Capital, points out. It was a crucial moment in her life, too: one she was able to navigate with support from her colleagues.
Looking back, what she remembers is how her manager called her personally to check in, and even when she expressed a desire to remain in the office, said — “No, you take care, be at home.” This understanding allowed her to focus on her health without the added stress of work expectations and deadlines.
For new mothers, the first day back at work after maternity leave can often feel like the first day at school. Mugdha too went in expecting jitters, new routines, and new faces. She got those, but also something else. “I got a warm welcome from my peers, my colleagues and my manager,” she smiles.
“I think Godrej Capital has really kept the culture of keeping their employees first,” Mugdha says of her experience of being an employee and a mother; and feeling valued both personally and professionally through it all.
