How We Built An All-Inclusive Site

Experience GPL's commitment to accessibility, equality, and empowerment in Pune

Godrej Properties Limited's All-Inclusive Model Site, situated in Maan, Hinje, Pune, strives to pioneer a new approach to creating accessible spaces for all user groups. This initiative came to life for the first time in June 2022. At GPL, we hope for this site to address the diverse needs of individuals including wheelchair users, persons with hearing and visual impairments, older persons, expectant mothers, those with physical injuries, and individuals with temporary disabilities etc.

In our commitment to embody the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, we embarked on what we see as a transformative initiative by establishing a new model site office, designed to reflect the essence of a progressive Indian society. Embracing the theme of 'Everyone is welcome here,' we meticulously crafted an environment that celebrated diversity in all its forms.

With a firm dedication to fostering equal representation, we ensured that our workforce comprised 50% women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. To further underscore our inclusive ethos, vibrant rainbow murals and branding elements were integrated throughout the site, serving as visual affirmations of our values not only to our employees but also to our customers.

In a bid to provide meaningful opportunities and visibility, we included individuals who are speech and hearing impaired in support and contract roles, thereby providing our colleagues a platform for greater mainstream integration. Complementing this effort, comprehensive trainings in Indian Sign Language were extended to all employees, fostering deeper understanding and empathy across the organisation through multiple sensitization sessions.

Our commitment didn't just stop there. In a bid to further support our diverse workforce, we made physical infrastructure changes to the site. This included the addition of gender-neutral washrooms and facilities accessible to individuals with physical disabilities. Additionally, we installed signage proudly showcasing the presence of speech and hearing-impaired individuals within our workforce, encouraging everyone to be mindful of their unique needs and contributions.

Through these concerted efforts, we aim not only to create a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion but also to inspire broader societal change by leading by example.
